Pestgo - Bees
Bees

Why they’re a concern

  • While bees are essential pollinators, they can pose a serious safety risk when nesting close to homes, schools, or businesses

  • Wasps are more aggressive and can sting repeatedly, causing pain or even allergic reactions

  • Swarms or hidden nests may lead to dangerous encounters for residents and pets

Where they thrive

  • Bees: Wall cavities, roofs, chimneys, tree hollows, garden structures

  • Wasps: Roof eaves, pipes, garden sheds & sheltered exterior areas

Common species in South Africa

  • Honey Bee: vital for pollination; protected and removed responsibly

  • Yellow Jacket Wasp: highly defensive with a painful sting

Common signs to look out for

  • Increased bee or wasp activity near a single point

  • Visible nests in roof spaces, eaves or trees

  • A constant buzzing sound inside walls or ceilings

  • Swarms clustering temporarily on branches or structures

Health & safety risks
